Our DVRs and NVRs support local recording to an internal hard drive as most surveillance recorders do. In addition, with our security camera recorders you can record video and snapshots to a FTP server using the FTP protocol. This can be done to a local server or NAS or to a remote sever in the cloud. FTP video and snapshot storage is great for backup as a secondary method to safeguard against theft of the primary recording unit.

This allows a user to access recorded video from their security cameras, whether it be by accessing a DVR or NVR directly using a monitor or mouse, or accessing the DVR/NVR remotely over the internet. There are several practices that every security camera user should keep to ensure their security video recorder is functioning and recording properly.

How To Record Pictures and Snapshots on a Security Camera Security camera systems are commonly used to record video as a way to ensure homes, businesses, and properties are protected. Security footage can consume a lot of storage space, especially if you're recording high resolution security cameras such as 8MP 4K security cameras. Rather than storing large video files that take up lots of hard drive space, certain camera applications may only need to record video snapshots, which are still pictures from a live video stream. Many cameras on the market offer settings to control brightness and contrast, WDR, and image flip, but very few offer the ability to control the day and night settings of the camera. All security cameras with infrared LEDs have a photosensor commonly found in the front of the camera that allows the camera to switch to black & white mode for night when there is darkness, and color mode for day where adequate light is sensed by the photo sensor. For most surveillance cameras with night vision this process is automatic and cannot be controlled.

How To View Security Cameras from an iPhone or Android Once you have setup your security camera system by connecting the cameras to the DVR or NVR, and you have video displaying from each camera on a monitor, the next step is to setup remote viewing for your security cameras. All of our security camera recorders come with a built-in web server that is always functional when the recorder is powered up, and allows viewing over the local area network (LAN) or over the internet. This security camera remote viewing guide will show you how to connect to your surveillance system using an iOS or Android device.

This allows a user to connect an IP camera to a NVR using only a single network cable.

Some of our NVR models, however, are designed without built-in PoE ports, or have a lesser number of PoE ports than total channels supported. For example, we have 16 Camera NVRs that offer eight built-in PoE ports. To utilize the remaining eight channels, you need to fetch the eight video streams over the network. This is also the case for Tribrid DVRs and XVRs that don't have any built-in PoE ports but still have the ability to stream and record IP cameras. This guide provides the steps necessary to change the IP address of IP cameras that are deployed on a network using a PoE switch external to the NVR.

This video based guide will simplify the setup process when connecting a PTZ camera to our security camera recorders, either that be a DVR or NVR. All analog PTZ cameras and some network based PTZ cameras have a RS485 connection that sends serial data control from the DVR recorder or PTZ joystick controller to the camera. Not only is it important to setup key configuration parameters for the RS485 commands to work, the hardware physical connection setup is very important. If the cameras are connected improperly, then they will not be able to receive commands from the DVR.

How To Connect Security Cameras to a Power Box Every security camera requires power to operate. Security cameras can use coax RG59 siamese wire or CAT5e networking cable to transmit video. The latter is more common these days for IP network cameras. If you are installing a low voltage power box for either a new or existing camera system using coax wiring, it is important to understand how the red and black leads from your coax siamese cable connect to a 12VDC Power Box. DC current is polarized, meaning it has a red wire which is positive, and black wire for negative. We recommend using a power box in a camera system as it allows stable power distribution to many cameras in a system without the need for individual power adapters. Continue reading ]]> Mon, 19 Mar 2018 22:03:31 +0000 https://www.cctvcameraworld.com/connecting-security-cameras-to-power-box/ https://www.cctvcameraworld.com/connecting-security-cameras-to-power-box/ matt.cctvcw@gmail.com (Matthew Rossi) Matthew Rossi Best Practices For Using A Two-Way Audio Security Camera Whether you have a security camera system for a home or business, the need for two-way audio interaction with talk-back capability may arise. CCTV Camera World offers solutions for both one-way and two-way audio. One-way audio is great for listening to sound originating from the location of a camera, but it will not allow interaction with a person at that location. To be able to interact with a person at the camera, the camera would have to have two-way talk capabilities, i.e. a speaker and microphone built-in similar to an intercom. Our Security Camera Systems allow the end user to see and listen from their camera feeds, and grant the ability to speak into a microphone to talk through one of our two-way audio security camera's speaker. There are a few different ways to conduct two-way talk with our security camera systems. Setup of our two-way audio security cameras is simple, and we explain how to do so in this guide. This feature is meant for users looking to setup two-way audio or bidirectional talk in their security camera system. By using add-on security camera mics or security cameras with built-in microphone, you can hear audio from the person in front of the camera. To talk back to the person you would connect your own speaker to the RCA audio output on the back of the DVR. By using an audio amplifier, it is possible to use a PA speaker and connect it to the RCA audio output of one of our DVRs.
