The PTZIR10 is our favorite Night Vision PTZ Camera. It is only 4.5 inches in diameter, and easily mounts to a wall on the side of a house or commercial building, or to a pole. It is IP66 weather proof rated, meaning it can be used outdoors without the need for a roof or overhang above. It can withstand snow, ice, rain, sand, and etc. It is a rugged PTZ camera with the added ability to see in complete darkness with the aid of its infrared LEDs up to 150ft in darkness. The 10X optical zoom lens of 5-50mm provides plenty of viewing distance. During live view, you can zoom in to a face up to 90ft away in day or night, and see facial detail clearly.

This camera has a SONY image sensor with SONY Effio signal processor that provides clear crisp video compatible with 960H DVRs. Like our mini PTZ camera, this outdoor pan tilt zoom camera can be directly controlled by using our PTZ controller or any of our security camera DVRs. If using our DVR, you can also remotely control the PTZ over the internet using a smart phone, tablet, or your PC.

I'm using PTZ Baluns and CAT5e to run about 150ft. When I control the camera, after a few seconds we lose color, then lose control of the PTZ. What can be the issue?

Question by: Jim Davis on: 2016-12-20

The issue you are describing is due to power. You cannot run power to a PTZ camera over 150ft away using 12V DC and 24awg or 23awg wire found in network cabling. Here are the cabling options you have:

1) Using CAT5e or CAT6 network cabling you can only send power to a PTZ from up to 50ft away. You can relocate the DVR within the 50ft distance.

2) To send power from 150ft away you can use a separate thicker 14awg gauge wire to send power using the 12V DC power supply.

3) You can also use existing network wire and use a 24V AC 60VA power supply to send power to the camera, and use a 24V AC to 12V DC voltage down converter at the camera end to down convert the voltage.

4) You can also ask an electrician to install a 110V AC outlet near the camera and power the camera using a 18awg power cable to power from no more that 50ft away.
