CCTV Video Multiplexers

CCTV Video Multiplexers

A Video Multiplexer allows several video signals from CCTV security cameras or other analog video devices to be combined and displayed on one monitor. These video processors are also commonly referred to as video mux, CCTV multiplexer, or color quad processor. The multiplexers allow multiple video streams from indoor or outdoor surveillance cameras to be displayed in different grid views, picture in picture (PIP) views, or auto sequence through the cameras in grid or full screen modes. This allows video from all the cameras in your cctv camera system to be recorded on a recording device that only has one video input, such as a portable DVR used in mobile surveillance applications.

Multiplexer is a term commonly used for 16 camera video processors while color quad processors usually refer to 4 channel or 8 channel units. All can be useful in video surveillance systems that have complex monitor display requirements, such as in projects where there are multiple guard desks or monitoring stations. They also come in handy for laboratories and medical applications such as operating rooms where HIPA requirements prohibit recording of patient video. Depending on the number of BNC video camera inputs, these devices allow selection between single camera, dual camera, quad / grid, eight channel, nine channel, and sixteen channel grid views using the wireless remote control that is included.

If you are looking to simply switch between your security cameras and are not look for a grid display, we suggest our 8 camera video switcher.
