PoE Extender

The POEEXT01 PoE Extender is a compact inline device used to extend both network data and Power over Ethernet beyond the standard 100 meter (328 feet) Ethernet distance limit. It is a useful accessory for IP camera installations where a PoE camera needs to be installed farther away from the PoE switch or recorder than a normal cable run allows.

This extender receives PoE power and network data from the incoming cable, then forwards both to the outgoing cable without requiring a separate power supply. It is commonly used for long driveway camera runs, parking lots, warehouses, commercial buildings, and other installations where extending a network line is more practical than adding another powered switch.

When Do You Need a PoE Extender?

A PoE extender is used when an IP camera needs to be installed farther away than the standard Ethernet distance limit of 100 meters (328 feet). In many surveillance installations, cameras are placed on buildings, poles, gates, parking lots, or long driveways where the cable distance back to the network switch exceeds this limit.

By installing a PoE extender inline with the network cable, the Ethernet signal and PoE power are regenerated so the cable can continue another 100 meters. Multiple extenders can be cascaded to reach distances up to 400 meters depending on the power requirements of the camera and the PoE output capacity of the switch or injector.

This makes PoE extenders a simple and reliable solution for long cable runs where installing a powered network switch or running new electrical wiring would be difficult or impractical.

The POEEXT01 supports 10/100Mbps network transmission over CAT5e or CAT6 cable and can extend the line another 100 meters. For longer runs, multiple units can be connected in sequence. Up to three stages can be cascaded for distances up to 400 meters total depending on the total power input required by your IP camera, the total PoE output of your PoE power source, and data rate of your device. It also supports IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at PoE standards with up to 30W PoE input.

It is compatible for use with our PoE cameras and PoE switches, making it a simple way to extend camera placement in situations where the standard 100 meter Ethernet distance limit would otherwise be a problem.
