This RJ45 coupler is a simple female-to-female network cable joiner used to connect two Ethernet cables together. It is useful when a cable run comes up a little short, when you need a quick inline connection, or when you are extending a network cable for a low-power IP camera, recorder, router, switch, computer, or other Ethernet device. This coupler is intended for indoor use or for use inside a covered weather-resistant junction box or enclosure.

We tested this RJ45 coupler with PoE camera equipment and confirmed that it works for PoE applications under 15W. That makes it a practical option for many standard fixed-lens PoE cameras and low-power network devices. For higher power cameras, PTZ cameras, very long cable runs, or installations near the Ethernet distance limit, we recommend using a single continuous cable whenever possible, or using a proper PoE extender when distance is the real issue.

The coupler has an RJ45 jack on both ends, so no crimping or special tools are needed. Just plug one Ethernet cable into one side and the second cable into the other side. It can be used with Cat5, Cat5e, and Cat6 style patch cables, including cables used with PoE switches, NVR recorders, and general network equipment.

Will this coupler extend Ethernet past 328ft?
