Recording performance for real installs

The NVR044KAI supports IP cameras up to 16MP and provides up to 80 Mbps for incoming, recording, and outgoing bandwidth. It supports Smart H.265+, H.265, Smart H.264+, H.264, and MJPEG, so you can keep storage use under control while staying compatible with older camera models.

Built-in PoE makes setup simple. Each camera uses one Ethernet cable for power and video. The recorder includes 4 PoE ports and supports PoE standards 802.3af/at, with a total PoE budget up to 45W (25.5W max per port).

For local viewing, the recorder includes HDMI and VGA outputs. It supports up to 4 channels of playback, and the decoding capability depends on whether onboard AI is enabled:

• AI disabled: up to 2-channel 16MP@30 fps, 2-channel 12MP@30 fps, or 4-channel 8MP@30 fps

AI that helps you find the right moments faster

This NVR includes onboard AI analytics that can work with ONVIF cameras to provide smarter alerts and quicker searches. It provides analytics on cameras that don't have AI themselves. Onboard AI by recorder supports:

• 1-channel face detection and recognition
• 2-channel perimeter protection (tripwire and intrusion), up to 10 IVS rules per channel
• 4-channel SMD Plus (human and vehicle filtering)

You can use one AI video analytics function at a time.

When you pair the NVR with compatible AI cameras, you can also use the camera's AI features such as face detection and recognition, perimeter protection, SMD, people counting, and heat map. ANPR is supported by the NVR when using compatible ANPR or LPR cameras.

For investigations, AI search tools help you narrow down footage by target attributes and event types, so you spend less time scrubbing timelines and more time finding what matters.

Built for simple day-to-day use

Most small NVR systems need two things: recording that does not skip, and a simple way to export evidence when something happens. This NVR supports general (continuous) recording, motion recording, intelligent recording (smart events), and alarm-based recording. Backup is straightforward to USB or over the network.

For multi-camera viewing from a PC, use our free Camera Monitoring Software (CMS) on Windows or Mac. Mobile access is supported on iOS and Android, so you can live view, playback, and receive event notifications without monthly fees.

Compatibility and setup

The NVR also supports ONVIF Profiles T, S, and G for many third-party IP camera brands, but feature depth (especially AI events) varies by camera firmware and often requires testing by you as the user.

Storage and backup

The NVR044KAI supports one internal SATA hard drive up to 20TB. If you need longer retention, using Smart H.265+ and recording on motion or smart events can extend storage time significantly, depending on camera bitrate and scene activity.
