Starlight technology allows this camera to see in color in very low light

The IPC4K19D is our Ultimate 4K Dome Camera with Fixed Lens that we have to offer. It has a high end image sensor for enhanced low light sensitivity that provides Starlight video capabilities. It also has advanced video analytics functions such as perimeter detection, human body and vehicle filtering to reduce false positive events, and a plethora of Smart Detection features that provide video analytics usable on the camera itself or with one of our compatible NVR recorders.

This 8 Megapixel (8MP) IP camera produces 4K Ultra HD resolution video that surpasses any HD quality camera on the market in terms of clarity and resolution. You can record video from this camera to one of our 4K NVR or to a PC based NVR software. 4K Security cameras offer unparalleled video resolution that allows for video recordings that can be zoomed in to while maintaining clarity. This camera has a 8MP CMOS image sensor that allows the camera to record at 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels). It comes standard with a 3.6mm lens that provides a 85 degree angle of view. Being 4K resolution, the actual image size is huge, meaning you can digitally zoom in up to 70ft away in daytime to recognize a face on video playback. You can use digital zoom on the camera or the NVR to magnify video of interest during live view or playback as shown in our video here.

The camera also has up to 100ft of night vision provided with by its infrared LEDS, and offers advanced image exposure compensation features such as BLC/ HLC/ True WDR.

All these professional features are packed in to a compact dome camera case that is vandal resistant and weather proof IP67. You can use the camera indoor or outdoors and rest assured it is tamper resistant if mounted correctly. This 4K IP Dome Camera can be mounted on a wall or ceiling. If you want the absolute best resolution available for security cameras, we suggest you get one of these.

Be sure to also consider the bullet version of this camera which comes with equal infrared night vision, you can find it here: 4K IP Camera Bullet

Powering the camera is easy. You can use either our PoE Switches, or a 12V DC power adaptor.

Since this is an IP camera, it can be streamed directly to your computer using our free PC/Mac viewing software or Internet Explorer as shown in this guide, NVR, mobile phone, or tablet device. We include our free Windows/Mac client suite to view video, or you can use any third-party video recording suite that accepts ONVIF compatible IP cameras.

For best compatibility and ease of use we recommend using one of our 4K NVRs which also support H.265 for bandwidth savings. H.265 encoding offers a more efficient way to compress video than H.264. It offers nearly double the data compression ratio delivering the same video quality saving bandwidth and storage space. It is also compatible with PC based video recording suites that support IP cameras such as Luxriot, Milestone, and NUUO.

Does the lens have auto focus?

This camera is a fixed lens camera, which means the camera has a fixed focal or zoom length. The camera is able to see just like your eyes, sans binoculars. Here is a sample image.

1.Does this camera Support IR functionality to provide Night vision?
2. What will be the data size of storage for running this for one full hour continuously?
3. Can this be used for capturing bus drivers driving pattern and condition during night drivings, by installing this in driver's cabin?

Question by: Gokul Kumar on: 2017-08-29

1. Yes this 4K Dome has built-in IR LEDs that provide night vision.

2. Recording 4k video at 15fps for 24hrs requires 85GB.
3. As long as you are not trying to see through the windshield or any other glass surface, and looking to see a person inside the same cabin or room as the camera, then it would work fine. We have customers using this camera in the dark for sleep studies.

Answer by: Tech Support on: 2017-10-02

Please clarify your definition of "fixed lens." I have a Vivotec dome camera that has a fixed lens (meaning NOT remote PTZ), but on the INITIAL SETUP of the camera, it IS POSSIBLE to set and lock the zoom and focus point of the lens. In my application, the camera is inside of an American Kestrel (falcon) nest box, and the focal distance is about 12 inches. Is that adjustment possible with this camera?

Are the pdf user and installation manuals available online for review?

Question by: KestrelCamMan on: 2017-10-21

A fixed lens means you cannot move it. So you cannot change the focus.

Answer by: Tech Support on: 2017-11-07

can i paint the exterior of the camera? white will stand out horribly against the brown wall

Question by: Jay Laurent on: 2017-12-21

You could paint the camera as long as you don't damage the glass or the pigtail. Any modification of the camera's internal circuits, or its pigtail will void the warranty.

Answer by: Tech Support on: 2017-12-26

Answer by: Tech Support on: 2018-01-24

1) Can I set this up with a network cable/USB and a laptop without internet?
2) Can I record only onto the SD card?
3) Will it overwrite data if I let it record indefinitely (on motion detection) so I don't have to delete old recordings?

Question by: Adam DiPietro on: 2019-05-13

  1. You can set up an IP camera directly with a laptop or desktop computer with an Ethernet port. You will need a 12V DC 1 Amp Power Supply. We have a full guide on this process here: How to Connect an IP Camera to a Computer.

  2. If you are using the camera as a standalone recording device you can record directly to an SD card. We have guides on How to Use a Security Camera as Standalone and Recording Security Camera to an SD Card. You can also record to an FTP server or use 3rd party software like Milestone, LuxRiot, and Blue Iris.

  3. A camera can be set to stop recording or overwrite older files based on date and time after the SD card is full. Cameras and recorders overwrite files in hour increments.

Answer by: Tech Support on: 2019-05-15

Is there a monthly fee to view the camera on iOS app?

Question by: AndyB on: 2019-08-24

No there is no monthly fee. You need to have an internet connection at the location of the camera and where you are viewing from. Using either port forwarding or P2P you can connect to the camera remotely. You can learn more about how to connect security cameras to the internet using port forwarding here.

You can learn more about the P2P method that is easier but has some lag in our Dummies guide to remote viewing security cameras.

Answer by: Tech Support on: 2019-08-25

Would this camera be good for me to record our service at church live?

Question by: Rick on: 2020-03-29

Usually we see PTZ cameras be the security camera of choice that customers use for Church services. You can set the camera's position and zoom level. This 4K security camera dome is not a PTZ camera. A couple of popular cameras for religious services are our 25X Zoom PTZ and 12X Zoom Ceiling Mount PTZ.
