In addition to 16 BNC video inputs that allow for HD security cameras over coax or Analog camera input, you can 8 more IP cameras over the network. It supports up to 4MP resolution HD over coax cameras, and up to 5MP IP Cameras, hence it is called an XVR for supported 5 different signal types of video.

For HD over Coax/Analog cameras it also has 16 Audio inputs for external microphones. If you are using one of our IP cameras with built-in microphone, then this DVR can capture audio from those cameras as well. In total it can recorder 24 channels of video and audio, 16 from BNC cameras and 8 from IP cameras.

The 16 Channel Security DVR XVR is truly the state-of-the-art in security DVR technology. It has a powerful dual core embedded processor, and runs on a Linux operating system with easy to use point & click interface. This is NOT a PC based DVR which is subject to viruses and hacking. This is a standalone DVR built for only one purpose - to be the most reliable surveillance video recorder in the world in its price range.

All of our new DVRs utilize H.264 and H.265 hardware based video encoding to bring great quality video while maximizing hard disk storage capacity. This DVR brings you the maximum in recording versatility by being able to record in 4M-N on channels 1 thru 16 at 15fps each. On channels 17-24 you can record up to 5MP resolution at up to 30fps depending on the IP camera's resolution and frame rate. The XVR supports up to 96 mbps of total recording bandwidth for IP cameras when it is in full 24 channel IP mode. Otherwise each IP channel supports a max of 4mbps.

Even if you have a mix of camera resolution and frame rates, this DVR allows you to select recording resolution and frame rate independently for each of the channels, which helps in conserving hard drive space.

Accessing the DVR from the internet is easy. Simply connect the DVR to a broadband internet connection. The built-in Web server allows you to perform almost every function of the DVR remotely with Internet Explorer, or common features with Google Chrome.

Free Central Management Software (CMS) is also included to allow you to centrally manage multiple DVRs or NVRs from CCTV Camera World simultaneously. Two-way audio over the network or Internet is also available using our two-way audio kit. So, not only can you hear what is going on, you can interact. This DVR supports up to 10 simultaneous remote users. With Dynamic DNS (DDNS) support, it is not necessary to have a static IP address on your network in order to remotely access this DVR. This saves you money, as most ISPs charge extra for a static IP address.

Having the ability to remotely view your system is great, but what if you are on the road and just can't monitor your system all the time. This is no problem with our DVRs highly flexible email and push notification capability. Just set up a standard POP email account like GMAIL and configure the system email you anywhere based on any criteria you choose. Many of our customers have alerts sent to their mobile devices for real time alerts. All of our DVRs support our FREE Remote Viewing Apps for watching your security camera system from popular smartphones and tablets.

Video can be easily downloaded from the DVR to a external hard drive or flash drive using the USB port. You can even download video directly to your Windows or MAC computer using our CMS software. If you worry about losing valuable footage in case of hardware failure or the DVR being stolen, video can be automatically uploaded by FTP to a server or NAS. You can even use one of our 16 channel NVRs as a live backup server to mirror the DVR using its video stream and record video off-site. If you're interested in learning how you can setup a backup recorder, please read this guide.

Just to recap, this 16 Channel DVR is compatible with both Analog Security Cameras and HDCVI HD Over Coax Cameras on each BNC channel, and an additional Eight IP cameras (max 5MP) for a total of 24 channels. We can only guarantee compatibility with IP Cameras purchased from CCTV Camera World.

The system supports 16 cameras, 16 audio-input, and audio-out for two way communication. Does the DVR have 16 audio output jacks? If not, how would you interact with someone seen on any of the 16 cameras? Thanks!

Question by: Kevin on: 2017-11-07

As stated in the specifications for this DVR, there are 16 RCA audio inputs, which are to connect to add-on microphones. There is a two way audio feature available on all of our DVRs. This would involve connecting a speaker from the one RCA Audio Out on the DVR to talk back to a person at one camera. Here is a video on how to setup two-way audio on your security camera system using our DVRs.
