IP Camera Reviews - Dahua vs Hikvision

The Dahua and Hikvision brands are two of the biggest and most popular you’re ever going to hear about.  While there are certainly other manufacturers out there, these two fill a very specific niche and are often referred to as the products/manufacturers that “give you the most bang for your buck.”  When asking for recommendations about which direction to take when designing a system, these two are almost always on the list.

Both Dahua and Hikvision produce a very similar line of products; similar in that their product specifications are nearly identical at every turn.  This is why most people won’t bring up one without the other with the only warning being to choose one or the other, but not both; the fear being that using both simultaneously can very easily cause compatibility issues.  If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on and sample both, you’ll probably find yourself leaning one way or the other based simply on their usability.

Since most of us won’t have the option to test both out, you can imagine how much coin tossing takes place when it’s time to make a decision.  The problem, as we see it, is that the industry has become too accustomed to looking at both manufacturers as one in the same.  Since most of the professionals in the industry have already taken sides, the subtle differences between these companies makes no difference to them anymore.  But we’re willing to bet it makes a big difference to someone still trying to make up their mind.

As we test comparable IP cameras from both Hikvision and Dahua, we are going to list our reviews and comparisons of their features and video quality below. These ip camera comparisons are meant to provide the valuable information needed to let the user decide which camera best fits their needs based on our rigorous testing.
