Overview

Noise Documentation Camera Kit - Record timestamped video and audio of barking dogs, loud neighbors, music, horns, and other recurring disturbances around a home, rental property, or business.

Adjustable Audio Detection - Set the sound sensitivity and threshold so the camera automatically records when noise reaches the level you choose, making important noise events easier to find and review.

256GB Local Recording - The included 256GB microSD card stores recordings directly inside the camera. No NVR, cloud storage plan, or required monthly subscription is needed.

4MP Outdoor Camera with Microphone - The black Avalonix PoE turret camera delivers 4MP video, a built-in microphone, 95° viewing angle, Starlight low-light video, and up to 100ft infrared night vision.

Straightforward DIY PoE Setup - The kit includes a 30W PoE injector, 6ft CAT5e cable, and 100ft CAT5e cable. One Ethernet cable carries power and network data to the camera for a clean home or business installation.

Start with One Camera and Expand Later - Use the camera as a complete standalone recorder today, then add a compatible NVR for longer recording retention, centralized playback, and additional cameras when you want a larger security system.

Dog barking, loud music, shouting, vehicle noise, and other neighborhood disturbances rarely happen on a schedule. The Barking Dog and Noisy Neighbor Camera Kit gives homeowners, property owners, and businesses a practical way to create a timestamped video and audio record when those problems keep happening.

You do not need to buy a complete security camera system to get started. The kit includes a high-quality Avalonix 4MP PoE camera with a built-in microphone, adjustable audio detection, a 256GB microSD card, a 30W PoE injector, one 6ft CAT5e cable, and one 100ft CAT5e cable. Everything needed for a basic one-camera PoE installation is included.

No NVR is required. Video and audio record directly to the included 256GB microSD card, with no required cloud-storage plan or monthly recording fee. Connect the camera to your network, set up the recording and audio-detection options, and the camera works as a standalone recording solution.

If you want more storage or additional cameras later, add a compatible NVR. You can then use the same camera as part of a larger security camera system instead of replacing what you already bought.

For a closer look at this type of setup, read our guide to recording a barking dog problem. Our video guide to setting up audio detection walks through the camera's sound-detection settings.

Document Barking Dogs, Loud Neighbors, and Other Noise

When a disturbance happens, the camera records the video, audio, date, and time together. That gives you something you can go back and review instead of relying on memory or trying to catch the problem while it is happening.

Common examples include:

  • Repeated dog barking
  • Loud music from a neighboring property
  • Shouting and outdoor disturbances
  • Vehicle horns and loud engines
  • Construction and equipment noise
  • Other recurring sounds that happen unpredictably

Over time, those recordings give you a history of what happened and when. You can review the footage, save the events you need, and export recordings when necessary.

Audio Detection Helps You Find Noise Events Faster

The camera includes audio detection, so recording does not have to depend only on movement in the picture. It listens for changes in sound level and can trigger an audio event when the conditions you set are met.

You control those conditions with the sensitivity and threshold settings. In simple terms, you can adjust how sensitive the camera is and how loud a sound needs to be before it triggers an event.

There is no single setting that works for every property. A quiet backyard is very different from a home next to a busy road. After the camera is installed, test it and adjust the sensitivity and threshold until it is picking up the type of noise you actually want to document.

For the initial setup, we recommend using a Windows PC. The camera's web interface is where you adjust the audio-detection sensitivity and threshold used to trigger recording events. A Mac can also be used to access the camera, but Windows is what we recommend for configuring and fine-tuning these settings.

Once the audio settings are where you want them, you do not need to leave the computer connected. The camera continues monitoring for audio events and records them directly to its microSD card on its own.

The camera does not know that a particular sound is a dog bark. It detects changes in sound intensity. That same feature can respond to barking, loud music, shouting, horns, machinery, and other sounds that are loud enough to meet the settings you have chosen.

See our audio detection settings guide for more detail on sensitivity, threshold, recording schedules, and event actions.

Record Directly to the Included 256GB microSD Card

The included 256GB microSD card sits inside the camera and stores recordings locally. For one problem area, that means you do not need to add a separate recorder just to start capturing video and audio.

Your recordings stay on local storage rather than requiring a paid cloud service. There is no required monthly recording subscription.

How long the card holds recordings depends on the resolution, frame rate, bitrate, compression settings, recording schedule, and how many events are recorded. Using event-based recording helps stretch the available storage because the camera records the activity you care about instead of filling the card with hours of uneventful footage.

For a yard, driveway, side of a home, property boundary, storefront, office exterior, or another single problem area, the included microSD card keeps the setup simple while still giving you local video and audio recording.

High-Quality 4MP Video with a Built-In Microphone

The included IPD404VPABL is a black Avalonix Premium Series PoE security camera with a built-in microphone. It gives you high-quality video without making a one-camera installation unnecessarily complicated.

The 2.8mm fixed lens provides a 95° horizontal viewing angle, which works well for broad areas such as backyards, driveways, side yards, entrances, and property boundaries.

The camera records up to 4MP resolution at 20fps, or 2K 2560 x 1440 video at up to 30fps. Audio from the built-in microphone is recorded alongside the video, so you can see and hear what was happening during an event.

Starlight imaging improves low-light color video when ambient light is available. When it gets dark enough, the built-in infrared LEDs provide black-and-white night vision at distances up to approximately 100ft.

The IP67-rated metal housing supports indoor and outdoor installation.

Straightforward PoE Setup for One Camera

PoE keeps the wiring simple. The same Ethernet cable carries network data and electrical power to the camera, so you do not need to run a separate power cable to the camera location.

The included 30W PoE injector supplies that power, which means you do not need a PoE switch or PoE NVR for this one-camera setup.

Here is the basic connection:

Router or Network Switch → 6ft CAT5e → PoE Injector → 100ft CAT5e → Camera

Homeowner connecting a PoE injector to a router for an Avalonix camera setup, with the camera, Ethernet cables and labeled connections shown.

The 6ft CAT5e cable runs from your router or network switch to the data input on the PoE injector. The 100ft CAT5e cable then runs from the injector's PoE output to the camera, carrying both network data and power.

That gives you a clean one-camera installation without specialized surveillance wiring, a separate power cable at the camera, or a separate recorder.

Use It Standalone Now and Add an NVR Later

Start with one camera and local microSD recording. If your goal is to document one yard, driveway, property line, entrance, or other problem area, that may be all you need.

Standalone Camera Add an NVR Later
Record to the included 256GB microSD card Add surveillance hard drives for substantially more storage
Monitor one problem area Add cameras around the home or business
Included PoE injector powers the camera Compatible PoE NVR powers connected PoE cameras
Review recordings from the camera Centralize recording, playback, and camera management
No recorder required Build a complete multi-camera security system

Start with the equipment you need to document the problem today. If you need longer recording retention or more cameras later, add a compatible PoE NVR and expand the system without replacing this camera.

Remote Viewing from a Phone or Computer

Connect the camera to your network and you can access live video and recordings from compatible smartphones and computers. When you are away from the property, remote access lets you check the camera without being there in person.

Internet service is not required for local microSD recording. The camera keeps recording locally without a cloud-storage subscription. You only need an internet connection when you want to view the camera remotely from outside the local network.

Keep Using It as a Security Camera

This is a high-quality IP security camera, not a single-purpose noise recorder. If the barking or noise problem eventually goes away, the camera does not become useless. Leave it in place and keep using it for everyday property surveillance.

It also supports motion detection, Smart Motion Detection, Tripwire, Intrusion Detection, night vision, remote viewing, and ONVIF Profiles S, G, and T.

If you decide you want more coverage later, browse our complete selection of IP security cameras and expand into an NVR-based system with cameras that fit the different areas around your property.
