- Power: Requires a 12V DC power supply, sold separately
The Avalonix R1080 is a 1080P indoor security camera built into a housing shaped like a wall-mounted PIR motion detector. It is intended for lawful video security in locations where the property owner has authorized camera use and where any required notice or consent has been provided. The front PIR-style element is part of the housing only. It does not detect motion, trigger recording, or connect to an alarm system.
Inside the housing is a 2MP camera with a 3.7mm fixed lens, an 80° angle of view, and 18 infrared LEDs rated for nighttime viewing up to 30ft. It sends 1080P video over coaxial cable using a selectable HDCVI, HDTVI, or AHD signal. The R1080 does not provide CVBS output, so it must be connected to a DVR that supports 1080P video in the selected HD analog format.
This camera is best suited to indoor rooms, offices, authorized employee areas, stockrooms, and other controlled spaces where a wall-mounted camera with a broad view is appropriate. It has no microphone and does not transmit or record audio. For other camera styles and resolutions, browse our analog security cameras.

1080P Video over Existing Coax Cable
The R1080 provides 1920 × 1080 video through a standard BNC connection. It is useful when an installation already has coaxial security-camera cabling or when a wired analog HD camera is preferred. One coax cable carries video back to the DVR, while a separate pair of conductors or local adapter supplies 12V DC power.
The camera can be switched between HDCVI, HDTVI, and AHD. Before installation, confirm which format the DVR accepts and set the camera to that matching mode. Many modern hybrid DVRs support more than one analog HD format, but compatibility should be checked by model. The camera does not output standard-definition CVBS video and should not be purchased for a CVBS-only recorder or monitor.
Customers replacing or expanding a coax-based system can compare compatible security camera DVRs. If the recorder specifically supports HDCVI, our HDCVI DVR recorders are another relevant place to start. The selected camera format, DVR format, and supported resolution must agree.
3.7mm Lens with an 80 Degree View
The fixed 3.7mm lens provides an approximately 80° angle of view. This is wide enough to cover a useful portion of many rooms without producing the heavily curved image associated with a fisheye lens. Actual coverage depends on mounting height, camera angle, room dimensions, and how far the main subject area is from the wall.
The included bracket lets the housing pivot after it is mounted. This makes it easier to aim the camera toward a doorway, counter, aisle, or other authorized viewing area. Because the lens is fixed, framing is adjusted by changing the mounting position and angle rather than by zooming the lens.
30ft Infrared Night Vision
Eighteen infrared LEDs behind the front window provide black-and-white night viewing rated up to 30ft. The camera automatically changes from color video in lit conditions to black-and-white video when the scene becomes dark enough for infrared operation.
The infrared emitters are not completely unnoticeable. In a dark room, a red glow from the LED array may be visible when the night vision is operating. This is normal for this model and should be considered before choosing where it will be installed. Actual usable distance can be shorter than 30ft depending on the room, wall color, mounting angle, reflective surfaces, and the amount of ambient light.
For cameras with different illumination distances and housing styles, see our night vision security cameras.
PIR-Style Housing without a Working Motion Sensor
The R1080 resembles a conventional passive infrared alarm sensor, but the resemblance is limited to the enclosure. There is no operational PIR detector inside this product. It cannot sense body heat, trigger an alarm panel, switch a light, or start recording in response to PIR activity.
Any motion recording or alerts must be handled by a compatible DVR using its own video-motion settings. Those functions depend on the recorder and are not generated by the camera housing. The R1080 should not be purchased as a replacement for a working alarm-system motion detector.
No Microphone or Audio
The camera supplies video only. It does not have a built-in microphone, audio input, audio output, or two-way talk capability. The small opening and patterned area on the front of the enclosure should not be interpreted as an audio feature. Customers who require recorded sound need a compatible DVR and a separate microphone, installed only where audio recording is lawful and authorized.
Indoor Wall-Mount Installation
The included pivoting bracket is designed for mounting the camera on an indoor wall and adjusting its direction. The R1080 is not weather rated and should not be installed outdoors or where it will be exposed to water, condensation, extreme temperatures, or high humidity.
The attached cable provides a BNC connector for video and a 12V DC barrel connector for power. A compatible 12V DC power supply is required and is not included. For longer cable runs, use suitable Siamese security camera cable or properly installed coax and power cabling.
Use Only for Authorized Video Security
Camera and privacy laws vary by location and application. The purchaser and installer are responsible for using this product only on property and in areas where video recording is permitted, obtaining any required consent, and providing notices when required. Do not install it in bathrooms, changing rooms, bedrooms used by guests, or other places where people reasonably expect privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the PIR motion detector work?
No. The front element and housing resemble a PIR alarm sensor, but there is no functioning passive infrared motion detector. It cannot detect people, trigger an alarm panel, or start recording. Motion-based recording must be configured in a compatible DVR using video motion detection.
Which video formats does the R1080 support?
The camera supports selectable HDCVI, HDTVI, and AHD output at 1080P. Set it to the format accepted by the connected DVR. It does not output CVBS and will not work with a recorder or display that accepts only standard-definition composite video.
Are the infrared LEDs visible at night?
Yes. When the room is dark and the infrared night vision is operating, a red glow from the LED array may be visible through the front window. The infrared system is rated for viewing up to 30ft, although actual usable distance depends on the room and installation.
Does this camera record audio?
No. The R1080 has no microphone, audio input, audio output, or two-way talk feature. It sends video only through its BNC connector.
Can the camera connect directly to a television or old analog monitor?
Not through a standard CVBS input. The R1080 outputs 1080P HDCVI, HDTVI, or AHD video and should normally be connected to a DVR that supports the selected format and resolution. It does not provide CVBS output.
Can the R1080 be installed outdoors?
No. This model is intended for dry indoor locations and does not have an outdoor weather-resistance rating. Use an appropriately rated outdoor camera for exterior installations.
Does the camera include a power supply or DVR?
No. The package includes the camera and adjustable wall bracket. A compatible 12V DC power supply, cable, and DVR are required separately.
