We carry several security cameras with motorized zoom lenses that allow control of the optical zoom lens at the touch of a button from the recorder, our PC software or mobile app. You can control the zoom and focus of the camera when you are watching the camera in live view and adjust the camera's field of view according to your preferences. In 2015, motorized zoom security cameras became very popular and are slowly replacing manual varifocal lenses because of the added convenience of not having to climb a ladder to adjust the zoom and focus on the camera. Once you purchase your security camera you will most likely wonder how to use your motorized zoom camera. This guide will show you how.
We assume you have installed your security camera and connected it to your DVR. Depending on whether you have just one IP camera, or a complete system, here are the different ways to control the zoom on the camera.
- Standalone IP Camera
If you only have one IP camera you can access the motorized zoom functionality through the camera's web service or using our PC and Mac client software. - Complete System with DVR or NVR
If you have a complete camera system, such as an IP camera system or a security camera system with DVR, then you can access the camera's zoom through the recorder using a web browser or our PC client.
