Using the Motorized Zoom on your Security Cameras

We carry several security cameras with motorized zoom lenses that allow control of the optical zoom lens at the touch of a button from the recorder, SmartPSS or mobile app. You can control the zoom and focus of the camera when you are watching the camera in live view and adjust the camera's field of view according to your preferences. In 2015, motorized zoom security cameras became very popular and are slowly replacing manual varifocal lenses because of the added convenience of not having to climb a ladder to adjust the zoom and focus on the camera. Once your purchase your camera you will most likely wonder how to use your motorized zoom camera. This guide will show you how.

We assume you have installed your camera and connected it to your DVR. If you have a IP camera with motorized zoom lens, then you can use the motorized function with the camera connected to the NVR, or if you only have one camera you can access the motorized zoom functionality through the camera's web service.

If you have an IP camera without a NVR, you can access the motorized function the following ways:

  • Using Internet Explorer or Firefox to access the camera's web service
