If you are in the market to upgrade your existing security camera system or to purchase a new system, then this DVR is definitely a good pick for a 8 camera system. It is the latest in HD security camera technology that utilizes the highly acclaimed HDCVI technology that allows 1080p video to be transmitted over coaxial cable. HDCVI cameras and DVRs are the answer for customers looking for HD security cameras on a budget. Not only is the cost per DVR and camera lower than IP cameras, but you can also use existing RG59 coax cabling to run the video signal. As compared to IP cameras which require network cabling, DVRs such as this 8 Channel Tribrid DVR are an attractive choice.

This security video recorder has Tribrid functionality that allows use of 3 different types of security camera technologies:

This means that you can use any existing analog security cameras that you have with this DVR, and even add up to Four IP cameras. In total this DVR supports recording and viewing from 12 cameras.

This 12 Channel DVR has a high speed processor with embedded Linux operating system that stays free of any viruses or Trojans. It comes with the same great user interface as all of our other DVRs, and uses H.264 encoding to record video at great quality while conserving hard drive space. It supports up to eight 1080P HD security cameras and records 1080P HD footage which is equivalent to Blu-ray quality. The video recording you get from 2MP HDCVI cameras is 172% greater in pixel size than analog cameras. That means you get more digital zooming ability on recorded video compared to analog.

You can also mix up the resolution of cameras you use with this DVR. This is especially helpful in conserving cost by using 720P cameras for indoor use, and 1080P cameras for areas where more detail is needed.

This unit also has 4 audio inputs for adding optional security camera microphones. You can use 4 separate microphone and connect them to the DVR using siamese cabling with audio. Audio captured by the DVR will be dubbed over the video recording for the camera on the same channel. So audio from Microphone 1 will be dubbed over video from Camera 1.

As mentioned above, this 8 Channel Tribrid DVR recorder is also compatible with up to 4 IP cameras. The DVR's menu interface allows additional four IP channels to be added after the first eight BNC channels, allowing a total of 12 security cameras to be recorded. You can add any of our IP cameras that can be found here and they are guaranteed to work with our security DVRs. This unit supports a max resolution of 5MP for IP cameras. So if you want to add a 4MP with zoom to see up to 80ft away at specific locations, this DVR will give you the freedom to do that.

In addition to fixed and motorized zoom cameras, you can also use Pan Tilt Zoom cameras with any of our DVRs. When using our HDCVI PTZ cameras, connecting a PTZ is very easy. Simply provide power to the camera using its power supply, and run one coax cable from the camera to the DVR. That one coax cable will send video and data commands from the DVR to the camera, making PTZ setup plug & play. Please be sure to use a coax cable from a roll or spool when running a PTZ camera.

All of the DVRs we sell come with motion activated recording, which you can use to conserve hard drive space and record only when motion is detected by the DVR. The motion activated feature can also send push alerts to your mobile device, and you can also playback video from your phone or tablet. It supports all the popular smart phones and tablets, you can find a full list of supported devices in the features list below.

Back-up of recorded footage is a breeze. Simply connect a USB flash drive to the back USB port, and with a few clicks of the mouse on the DVR interface, you can select cameras and date/time frames which you would like to download. You can even download video over the internet using your Windows PC and the included free PC CMS software that lets you manage multiple DVRs and cameras.

Can the DVR record 1080P 15fps simultaneously on all 8 channels? Does the same apply with 1080N at 30fps?

Question by: Benjamin on: 2018-08-08

Yes this DVR can record 1080P at 15fps across all BNC channels. It can do 1080N recording at 30fps across all channels.

I want to replace my Samsung DVR with a tribrid. Will my Samsung cameras work and will I be able to add cat5 cameras? If so how does that connect.

Question by: Kelly on: 2019-10-20

If the existing cameras you have are all coax cameras then they should work with our security DVR. To confirm, we prefer having the model numbers to be sure. As concerns "CAT5 cameras", we can only recommend using an IP camera we sell with our DVRs due to compatibility reasons. You can learn more about limitations of using IP security cameras using the ONVIF protocol here. When connecting cameras to a DVR, you would use a PoE switch to connect the cameras to provide Power over Ethernet connectivity to the cameras. We recommend reading the guide How to setup an IP system to learn more.
