In this test, we show an AvaEye PTZ camera running over approximately 654 feet of solid copper Cat5e without any PoE extenders. The video demonstrates that with a compatible AvaEye NVR and the correct settings enabled, you can carry power, video, audio, and PTZ control over one long cable run.

This is especially useful for installations where a camera needs to be placed far from the main building, such as a gate, driveway entrance, or outbuilding. Rather than adding extenders in the middle of the run, this setup uses the NVR's Extended Transmission setting to bring the camera online directly.

What this demo covers

  • a real-world long-distance run of about 654 feet using UL-listed solid copper Cat5e
  • live confirmation that video, audio, pan, tilt, zoom, and infrared all work over the long run
  • where to enable Extended Transmission in the NVR menu so the camera can populate correctly
  • why PoE wattage draw and the NVR's total PoE budget matter when planning multiple long-run cameras

This video applies to AvaEye PTZ cameras paired with compatible AvaEye NVRs that support extended transmission.
