Whether you have an IP, HDCVI, or Analog security camera system, CCTV Camera World offers security cameras with a built-in microphone, giving you the ability to stream or record HD quality  footage with audio for each camera. Setting up your DVR or NVR to stream/record video with audio requires a few simple steps, explained in the text and video below.

Customers sometimes reach out to us saying they are unable to hear any sound with the audio cameras they purchased from us, and most of the time the reason is because they have not yet enabled audio in the DVR or NVR settings. Correctly enabling audio is a simple process.

Step 1) Enable Audio In Camera Encoding Settings

Please refer to our support article on enabling audio recording on your DVR or NVR. Once you have successfully enabled this setting in your DVR/NVR, you will be able to stream and record video/audio.

If you're accessing your DVR/NVR directly using a monitor with speakers, you need to use an HDMI cable for connection in order to hear audio. HDMI is able to carry both audio/video, while a VGA connection will transmit video but will NOT transmit audio.

Step 2) Add your DVR/NVR to Smart PSS and listen to audio

In the video below, you will learn how to enable audio by first connecting to your DVR/NVR through Smart PSS. The first step is to add your security DVR using the "Devices" tab in Smart PSS. Next, select the "Liveview" tab in Smart PSS and pull up an audio camera. Once your camera stream is visible, you need to click the "Audio" icon on the top right corner of the video stream to hear audio. To hear audio on recorded video, you need to click the "Playback" tab in Smart PSS, search video recordings from the camera you want to playback video from, and un-mute audio by clicking the speaker icon located on the bottom right corner. These steps are shown in the video below.
